With a Copper Axe or better, you can chop down large stumps. A steel axe or better can be used to cut down large logs.
By shuffling or chopping trees of Mahogany, and digging up seeds dropped by mature trees, Mahogany Seeds can be collected.
Alternatively, other hardwoods can be chopped up. Slimes can also drop them in the Secret Woods or from Golden Coconuts on Ginger Island.
Traders on the Island also offer players the opportunity to trade one Stingray for a Mahogany Seed.
The northwestern corner of Cindersap Forest is the best place to find Large Stumps consistently. You can get twelve pieces of Hardwood each day in this area, as six large stumps respawn daily.
In order to gain access to the woods, the players must first chop down a large log. A Steel Axe will be required for this, as mentioned before.
When players begin Stardew Valley, they will also find large stumps and large logs on their farms.
However, removing these will not cause them to respawn. It is still possible to use their Hardwood.
